Internal Medicine

Internal Medicine appointments are made on a referral basis, meaning that it was advised by your pet’s regular veterinarian. Appointments can be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., by calling 979.845.2351. New patients are generally seen in the mornings, Monday through Thursday.

Please bring any radiographs your veterinarian has taken, all medications your pet is currently taking, and, if possible, a copy of your pet’s medical records.

Please give all medications as directed by your regular veterinarian. Do not feed your pet unless your pet is a diabetic, in which case you can feed and give insulin as usual. Allow your pet access to water, unless specifically directed otherwise.

A veterinary student will go through your pet’s medical history, perform a physical examination, and then discuss your pet with one of the service clinicians to formulate a tentative plan. The student and clinician will discuss their plan with you and make sure you understand and approve before proceeding with any tests or treatments.

Please allow several hours for your appointment. Most new patients spend the day with us. Depending on what is needed, some are hospitalized for more intensive diagnostics and care.

Specialist care is generally more costly than routine care, but we make every effort to keep costs low and use your resources in the best way possible. All costs will be explained before any tests or treatments are performed and you will be provided with a written estimate. If your pet’s needs change, we will update you about additional expenses if we expect to exceed the original estimate. If your pet needs to be admitted to the hospital, we will collect a deposit in advance.
