SATH Initiating New Intake Procedures To Protect Against Canine  Respiratory Infections

To protect the patients seen at the Texas A&M Small Animal Teaching Hospital (SATH) and the surrounding community, the SATH has increased the screening of patients entering the hospital. Historically, and at present, all dogs suspected of having a contagious respiratory illness are handled with precautions and are placed in isolation as soon as possible during admission.

For the safety of your pets and to protect our patient population, we ask that owners please notify clinicians or our front desk staff if their pet is exhibiting clinical signs consistent with canine respiratory disease — as well as whether that pet has been boarded or has visited a doggy day care within the past month — when scheduling or confirming an appointment and before entering the hospital.

For more information on the current respiratory outbreak, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.
